Can you feel it? It’s almost time for the Los Angeles Lakers to begin one of the most anticipated drafts in franchise history. On Thursday, we may witness the birth of a new core for one of the most storied franchises in sports.

Armed with three picks, including the second overall selection, the Lakers are lined up to add some serious talent to a once-barren collection. The choices they make on June 25 will shape the way the team plays going forward, and how quickly they can get back to competitive relevance.

How the NBA Draft unfolds for the Lakers will have a massive ripple effect on how the team proceeds in free agency — both this year and next. And, of course, just how watchable this team is next year is at stake as well.

The Lakers are in a good position to turn around a team that has reached dumpster fire levels over the past two seasons. A few correct moves could turn the franchise into an up-and-coming contender.

Those type of implications rightfully lead to important questions. Here are the four that I am asking as the Lakers head into the 2015 NBA draft.
