Dez Wells, Maryland

Dez Wells is one of the more familiar names on the list of players working out today. Playing for the local school in the Maryland Terrapins, makes him a fan favorite in the DMV area. Wells is one of the most athletic and explosive prospect in this year’s draft, and at 6’4 209 lbs, he has size to play in the NBA.

One unknown about Wells though, is what position he would play since he isn’t tall enough to play shooting guard, but doesn’t really possess the skills to fulfill the point guard position. Although he did play point guard for the Terps much of his junior season, Wells is much more effective at the shooting guard position where he can focus more on scoring. In mock drafts, Wells name hasn’t appeared even in the second round, and if that is the case, the Wizards should think about still sending him an invite to camp because of his energy and athleticism.

One thing to also keep in mind is Wells and John Wall played together in high school and are from the same area, so if Wall thinks he is good enough to improve their team, the front office may take a chance on him.
