From time to time—or every single day, if anyone you know follows sports—contemporary greats are compared to their predecessors. It’s a subjective activity that lacks any true determining factors besides speculation and the evaluation of evolving standards on a resume.

The question is, which players could actually transcend time and dominate in any era?

It must be noted that there’s a difference between being a great player and genuinely dominating your opponents. Consistency plays a part in that, but more so on the championship scale than in statistics.

The truth is, dominance lacks a true definition in the NBA; it’s simply known when it’s seen.

So who is it? Which legends could dominate in any era?

Note: No active players have been included.
