Washington Wizards Need Paul Pierce To Stick Around For 1 More Year
By Josh Wilson
He’s Exhausted
We all heard Pierce say it. The few sentences he had to say following the end to the Wizards season left us with a lot of questions, and, even sparked the topic for articles like this. Was he really alluding to retirement? Likely. Will he really do it? Who knows.
Speaking to the Washington Post, Pierce had these unsettling words to say after the game.
"“These rides throughout the NBA season, throughout the playoffs, are very emotional. They take a lot out of not only your body, but your mind, your spirit.”"
Could that really mean it? He’s done? All because he’s fallen short one too many times? That angle is overplayed. Let’s look at this in a new light, and a much more positive way.
Pierce is exhausted, yes. But that exhaustion certainly can be temporary. When the time rolls around for the regular season to start up, he could find newfound inspiration in this. Pierce could find himself inspired more than ever before because he doesn’t want to feel that exhausted feeling at the end of the year with no championship trophy to hoist up.
With talks of Pierce opting out of his time remaining with Washington, let’s hope that he can find some inspiration in not wanting to feel like he did last year, and wanting to bring a title to D.C., and finish his business with the Wizards.
