3. When Will Kyle Korver Be Back?

UPDATE: The Hawks announced that Kyle Korver will be out three months following his ankle surgery Wednesday.

The news that Kyle Korver would miss the remainder of the playoffs was devastating to a Hawks team that was already down 2-0 in the series, but the news that he’ll be undergoing ankle surgery today is the rotten cherry on top of this s**t sundae.

The good news is, the Hawks have all summer for Korver to get that right ankle healthy again. The bad news is that his teammate DeMarre Carroll already offered a bit of insight as to how long Atlanta’s sharpshooter could be out for:

Now, Carroll is not a doctor, and there has been no official confirmation about a timetable for Korver’s return yet. In fact, the 4-6 months timeline was rejected as an inaccurate report/opinion, with Korver seeking a second opinion.

But depending on how long it takes Korver to recover, the Hawks could be without him for training camp and possibly the start of the 2015-16 season. It’s also worth wondering how long it will take Korver to find his range again, since his off-the-ball movement and three-point sniping made Atlanta’s offense so deadly in the first place.

Will he be able to tirelessly run around screens like he once did? Will his return be in time for the start of the season? And will be be able to shake off his poor shooting from these playoffs as he comes back from an ankle procedure? These are questions that will be only be answered with time and, hopefully, a lot of healing.
