John Wall Named To Second Team All-Defense
John Wall has been named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. Wall is just the ninth player in franchise history to be named to an All-Defensive team. The last player to do so was Larry Hughes during the 2004-05 season.
Wall is joined on the second team along with Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, Andrew Bogut, and Tim Duncan. During the regular season, Wall and Butler were tied for 11th in the NBA in steals averaging 1.75 per game.
The point guard position is arguably the hardest position at both ends of the court in the NBA. Wall and Chris Paul were the only point guards to be selected to an All-Defensive team, with Paul earning first team honors.
Wall received 7 votes for first-team and 53 for second-team. He was clearly the best defender on the Washington Wizards this past season and provided energy that was desperately needed during the playoffs.
The former No.1 pick from Kentucky in the 2010 draft continues to prove himself, marching up the ladder to be among the elite point guards in the league. Receiving this award is just another argument that Wall will have to be considered as one of the best. You can bet on this not being the last award Wall gets during this career.
