The Indiana Pacers will be looking to reload during the summer of 2015. Paul George is healthy again, but even with the two-time All-NBA honoree, the perimeter offense is lacking firepower.
If any team projects to be willing to acquire Jamal Crawford via a trade, it’s Indiana.
Crawford, a two-time Sixth Man of the Year, lacks the versatility that Los Angeles needs from its third guard. He’s still a respected scorer who can take over games, but the Clippers’ offense isn’t an issue; it’s the defense.
Enter C.J. Miles.
Miles, 28, is coming off of a season in which he averaged a career-high 13.5 points per game. He’s a respectable shooter and a high-caliber perimeter defender, which is something Los Angeles is in desperate need of.
Miles struggled with inefficiency in 2014-15, but he’s the type of 3-and-D specialist who the Clippers missed in the playoffs. Thus, the low-risk gamble is made via this win-win trade.
Los Angeles banks on Austin Rivers filling Crawford’s shoes as he and Miles fill out the rotation of wings.
