Golden State Warriors: 5 Keys To Wrapping Up The Series
2. Jump On Them Early
The Dubs are clearly the better team, but they have to continue this momentum on the road. What’s the best way to take a desperate home crowd out of the game? Jump on them right from the start and silence the fans early.
In their last two wins, the Dubs started off poorly before rallying halfway through the first quarter to build momentum and take a narrow lead heading into the second. Curry got going with big-time threes near the end of the first quarter in both games and from there he and the Dubs were simply “en fuego.” When the Warriors build double-digit leads, they don’t really give them up.
Steve Kerr’s squad has won their last two games by 17 points and 20 points after surging late in the first quarter, they have a 3-2 series lead and the Grizzlies should be pretty demoralized after such a hearty beatdown on the road. But Memphis isn’t dead yet, and this gritty team is going to claw its way to victory if it gets an opening.
In front of their home fans, they’ll be fighting for their playoff lives, and knowing Tony Allen, his injury would have to be incredibly serious for him to miss an elimination game. But with momentum completely on Golden State’s side, they should let Memphis know right away that this series is over.
