Thanks to the Atlanta Hawksprevious trade with the Brooklyn Nets that sent shooting guard Joe Johnson to New York City, Atlanta now holds the Nets’ first-round selection in this year’s NBA draft, and it’s a solid pick to boot.

The Hawks will have the 15th pick in the draft to work with as they look to either take the best player available for fill a need.

Atlanta’s biggest worry in terms of need should be the fact that small forward DeMarre Carroll could potentially leave the team via free agency if he doesn’t receive the kind of financial offer he feels he deserves.

Carroll has been an important part of the team’s success this year, serving as both a defensive ace and an athletic finisher who can also stretch the floor and hit the three-point shot, one of the most important aspects of the Hawks’ offense, as they led the league in threes attempted this past season.
