4. Milwaukee Defeats Miami on Khris Middleton Buzzer-Beater

It was late March and a month into the Michael Carter-Williams reign. The team was struggling, having lost six games in a row, and it appeared that they were going to run it to a season-high seven games.

The Bucks trailed the Heat 79-65 heading into the fourth quarter and had just lost the third quarter 28-16. All signs were telling fans at the Bradley Center to pack it up and head to their respective parking ramps. Those that did do this though, ended up missing an incredible comeback.

The Heat choked away their lead, failing to score for minutes at a time in the period. With nine seconds remaining, though, it appeared that they would not lose the game despite their best efforts. The score was 88-86 when Jerryd Bayless forced a jump ball. The only problem was that the 6’3″ Bayless would have to jump against the 6’10” Michael Beasley.

Bayless won the tip, though, and drove in for a layup. He missed the shot but the rebound deflected towards the baseline. Bucks center Zaza Pachulia went after the ball and threw it blindly back inbounds as he fell across the baseline. Like a heat-seeking missile, the ball found Khris Middleton on the perimeter.

Middleton then reminded us that you can’t spell klutch without a “K” and drained the shot to win by one.

It was just one win, but it helped the Bucks get back on track. The Bucks played .500 ball the rest of the way and this win is a big reason why they were able to hold off teams like the Celtics and Nets for the sixth seed.
