2. Eric Gordon Will Come Back Down To Earth

In Game 1, Eric Gordon had 16 points and made four of his seven three-pointers. In Game 2, Gordon was even better, scoring 23 points on 9-of-19 shooting in quite possibly his most important game as a Pelican. Through two games, Gordon is averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting 42.4 percent from the floor and nearly 53 percent from three-point range on 17 attempts.

For a guy who averaged 13.4 points per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from downtown, Gordon has stepped up his game for the playoffs in an unforeseen manner.

Is it wrong for us to expect him to come crashing back down to earth soon? While it’s nice to see Gordon playing great playoff basketball after all his injury struggles over the years, he’s stepped up his games to a level that feels unsustainable.

Davis is going to get his, but so far it’s been role players like Gordon, Norris Cole and Quincy Pondexter stepping up to keep the Pelicans so competitive. With Tyreke Evans banged up and Ryan Anderson M.I.A., New Orleans needs Gordon to keep this resurgence going. I’m not sure I see that happening, even with the next two games being at home.
