Why They’ll Fall Short

Offensively it’s a different story for this team. They rank 25th in the league, scoring 100.5 points per game. A look at the roster though and it’s clear why. The midseason trade that saw them part ways with Brandon Knight hurt their ability to score. His replacement, Carter-Williams, does not possess a consistent jump shot.

Giannis is still a relatively blank canvas. There’s more to come from him offensively no question, it just hasn’t come yet. Middleton does what he can, although defensively is where he’s shining brightest. Jerryd Bayless, a great addition for this team, could be doing more than scoring the 7.8 points he contributes.

There’s not enough star power on this team yet to truly frighten the best teams in the East, especially over a seven-game series. They do have something though, and that is promising. The move for Carter-Williams may have hurt the team short term, but it’ll work out to be a great piece of business.

Although he stagnates the offense, Knight will be a restricted free agent this summer, and Milwaukee would have had to overpay to keep him around. Carter-Williams, still on his rookie deal, was the Rookie of the Year last season. He may never get much better offensively, but as he continues to learn the sets and becomes an even better passer, he’ll contribute more on that end.

Look, we know this team isn’t winning a title this season, but they’ll be an interesting matchup for anybody.
