Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Greek Freak, as he’s come to be known, is the most intriguing young player in the NBA today. At just 20 years old and in his second season, his ceiling is truly scary. He can legitimately play all five positions on the court, and looks like he’s having fun while he does it. Indeed, it’s quite a sight to see him on ball handling duties, tangling down the court, limbs everywhere.

He understands the game a lot better than he did last year, when it seemed he was just doing his own thing (and doing it well) on the court. His personal statistics reflect this fact accordingly, he impacts this team positively in most categories, although he could be more of a force on the boards given his size.

Playoffs Giannis will be fun to watch. He’s a matchup nightmare for any team in the league, although he’s still quite raw and rough around the edges. That being said though, to see the transformation from year one to year two has been noticeable, so imagine how good he could be in a couple of years. Indeed, he certainly has the attention of Bill Simmons as well.

There’s zero pressure on this Bucks team and Antetokounmpo to succeed in the postseason. For that reason they’ll play loose, and I expect this to be a coming out party of sorts for Giannis. He’ll have at least one game where he stuffs that stat sheet and makes the casual fans of this league take notice. The exposure to postseason basketball will do him the world of good as well.

You’ve been warned.
