 March 7, 2015 – Sacramento Kings @ Miami – FINAL SCORE: 114-109 (OT)

Clearly, the Heat had dealt with injury all season long. But when the Kings rolled into town in early March, they were facing a Miami team missing three starters (Luol Deng, Dragic and Whiteside) and had slapped a lineup featuring Walker and Udonis Haslem as their starting forwards.

With “Hassanity” sitting out the game due to an ankle injury, Chris Andersen would have to play major minutes and the only other option at center – Michael Beasley – stands just 6’10” but has never shown much defensive aptitude. He’d be facing DeMarcus Cousins, one of the best centers in the league for long stretches.

And Beasley would respond beautifully.

“B-Easy” gave the effort that makes him a local crowd favorite, guarding the much larger Cousins as well as possible. He helped erase a 16-point deficit and would chip in 18 points along the way. Miami also got contributions from Tyler Johnson (another D-League call up), providing 24 electric points, including 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range.

It was an ugly, gritty and perfect game.
