27. Gene Banks

1978-1981

Banks was a 6-foot-7 forward for the Blue Devils, averaging 16.8 points and 7.9 rebounds for his career. His most memorable moment at Duke came against rival North Carolina in 1981.

With Duke trailing late in the second half, Banks hit a deep jump shot as time expired to send the game into overtime. Duke would win in overtime, giving Coach K his first win over North Carolina. That season would also see Banks win the ACC scoring title.

Banks would play basketball professionally in the NBA, CBA, and overseas after his Duke career. He later coached for three seasons in the Washington Wizards organization.
