Verdict

In some ways, the Wizards have had a similar season to the Toronto Raptors. Both had memorable playoff moments last year, and begun this season strong as well. The Raptors went into a nosedive in the middle of the season, with Washington dipping too. The only difference is, the Wizards pulled themselves out of it in time to look good heading into the postseason.

A round one matchup between the two sees Washington go through. The second round will be as far as they get once again though. Should they meet the Chicago Bulls in round one though, a real possibility, this team could actually take a backwards step and go home earlier despite being stronger than last season.

The core for this team is there, they’re approaching contender status and only need to be smart about a couple of smaller moves to get there. But they’re not there yet. What’s that, Kevin Durant is on the phone and wants to talk?
