Why will Steph Curry win the 2014-15 MVP Award? Well, for one thing, he’s more likable than Harden, a guy who is still seen as an NBA villain. Whether it’s Harden’s beard, his awesome stirring the pot celebration or the fact that he plays with Dwight Howard and gets fouled so often, some people have a hard time appreciating the Bearded One.
Curry is the NBA’s star who is easiest to digest. You just sit back and watch him do absurd things. His heat checks are the best the NBA has to offer, he’s the best player on the league’s best team (by a wide margin) and he’s capable of turning the tide of a game in an instant. This is a special season we’re seeing from the Warriors and nobody should be up in arms about Curry winning MVP.
That’s right folks; despite the fact that I’d vote for Harden for MVP if I could, it also wouldn’t be a travesty for Curry to win it. This is the rare occasion where we have two extremely deserving candidates, and Curry is undoubtedly just as worthy as Harden.
It’s ridiculous that Curry’s on the verge of a 50-40-90 season while attempting eight three-pointers per game. These are the best numbers of his career, and what’s scary is they’d be even better if the Dubs weren’t blowing everyone out by 10 points a game. Curry is so effective his numbers suffer because he gets to take so much time to rest with a comfortable lead.
Steph Curry was made for Vine highlights and viral YouTube clips. He’s a humble, likable guy who will eventually go down as the greatest shooter in NBA history. His handles make him hypnotic on the court and cheering for him is simply infectious. James Harden deserves MVP love, but we should probably just accept that the Warriors’ historic season will win it for Curry.
