Stephen Curry

It’s a little unfair to say this team begins and ends with Curry, but in some ways that’s true. A legit MVP candidate, he was the leading vote getting for the All-Star game this weekend as well. I’ll admit, for a couple of years I thought his ankles, small frame and lack of defence meant he’d never be able to carry a team. How wrong I was and how happy I am to have been proven wrong.

Curry is the real deal, can pull up and shoot from seemingly anywhere, while he’s also stepped up his defensive effort ten fold. My favorite aspect of his play though is his unselfishness. When Klay Thompson went off for 37 points in the third quarter (Another reason this is a hugely dangerous team) of a January game against the Sacramento Kings, it was Curry who cheered loudest.

He’s a selfless leader, and his 7.8 assists per game is good for sixth in the league.

His rise to the top has been great to see, and a championship would be a defining moment both for Curry as a player and the Golden State franchise as a whole. You could also argue no one player in the league (Except maybe LeBron and KD/Westbrook) encapsulates a team like Curry does. He’s the face of sport in that part of the world. He’s also an incredible 92 percent from the free throw line as well.
