1. The NBA Draft

While much was made of last year’s crop of incoming rookies being the best in over a decade, this year there are potential franchise changers to be found as well. Indeed, it seems Kentucky alone has a couple of players (Willie Cauley-Stein, Karl Anthony-Towns). Jahlil Okafor is another prospect with tremendous upside, ditto Justin Winslow.

Then there are guards like D’Angelo Russell and Emmanuel Mudiay who also have considerable talent (I think I’m alone in wishing the Magic would pick Frank Kaminsky).

As things stand, Orlando figures to draft fifth in the draft. I’ve just named six hugely talented players above, meaning the Magic are essentially guaranteed to have one of these players, if they want them. Teams who pick above them have their own agendas, meaning some of the better players could fall as low as fifth.

Point is, with the promising roster already in place on this team, adding another young player brimming with potential can only be viewed as a positive.
