3. Setting A New Record For Wins

Check, again.

Golden State’s last win — Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks — clinched the top seed in the Western Conference for the playoffs and gave the Dubs a franchise-record 60 wins…and there are still nine games left in the regular season.

That’s quite an accomplishment, especially for a rookie head coach, but what does that mean for the Dubs looking ahead and in terms of history? ESPN Stats & Info provides a nice starting point:

Of the previous 12 teams that won 60 of their first 73 games, nine went on to the NBA Finals…and all nine of those teams wound up winning the title.

The fact that Kerr has been able to do this without running Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Green or Bogut into the ground also bodes well for the postseason, since the starters should have plenty left in the tank when the rotations shorten up like they always do come playoff time.

In terms of regular season accomplishments, this accolade means the 2014-15 campaign is the most successful one (by far) in franchise history. Who knows how many wins the franchise record will wind up nabbing, especially with the Dubs in the middle of a nine-game win streak?

Of course, the regular season is only a part of what would make this the greatest season in franchise history.
