The Numbers

In 33.7 minutes per game, DeMarcus Cousins is averaging 23.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals per game — all career highs.

Per Basketball-Reference, the only players in NBA history to put up 23-12-3-1 for an entire season are Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kevin Garnett, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Artis Gilmore, Bob Lanier, Bob McAdoo and Charles Barkley — all Hall of Famers or future Hall of Famers.

Cousins is second in the NBA with 43 double-doubles, he has the most 30-point, 15-rebound games this season per NBA.com (more than the next two players combined) and he has the league’s seventh highest Player Efficiency Rating.

Averaging a 24-12 is impressive enough for a big man, but adding in three assists and nearly two blocks and two steals per game speaks to his versatility. Cuz has been responsible for some of the NBA’s most monstrous stat lines this season, and the basic numbers serve as a testament to his status as elite.
