30 Greatest Teams In NCAA History
By Bobby Reagan
8. 1954-56 San Francisco Dons
This San Francisco team went on to win 55 consecutive games and back-to-back national championship. This was thanks in large part to a guy by the name of Bill Russell, who averaged 20 points and 21 rebounds as a senior. Oh, he also had 50 rebounds in the Final Four and championship game in 1956 when the Dons defeated Iowa in the championship game. During the 1955-56 season, San Francisco won every regular season game by at least seven points. Joining Russell on the roster was Hal Perry and All-American guard K.C. Jones. The Dons were also the first team to complete an undefeated season going 29-0.
