30 Greatest Teams In NCAA History
By Bobby Reagan
9. 1981-82 North Carolina Tar Heels
You have to be a great team if a freshman by the name of Michael Jordan is your ho-hum third best player. Jordan, who averaged 13 points per game, did happen to hit the biggest shot of the season when his jumper from the wing gave North Carolina the national title over Patrick Ewing’s Georgetown team. The leader of the team was Sam Perkins who averaged 14 points and seven rebounds while James Worthy also pitched in 15 points and six rebounds per game. The Tar Heels went 32-2 on the season, but narrowly won in the NCAA Tournament. Their wins were over James Madison by one, Alabama by five, Villanova by 10, Houston by five and then by one over Georgetown.
