15. 1967-68 Houston Cougars

Yet another team who didn’t win the title, the 1967-68 Houston Cougars team just happened to have to go against the mighty UCLA team in the Final Four. Elvin Hayes was a superstar for the Cougars, averaging over 36 points and 18 rebounds a game. Let that sink in and imagine if someone did that today. The Cougars were undefeated heading into the Final Four, including a win over the same UCLA team and star Lew Alcindor, before the Bruins got their payback. Joining Hayes in Houston was Don Chaney, who went on to be a defensive stopper for the Boston Celtics.
