30 Greatest Teams In NCAA History

23. 1973-74 North Carolina State Wolfpack
It’s tough to imagine a scenario where a guy who averages 18.1 points and 12.2 rebounds per game isn’t the top guy on the team, but that’s exactly what happened with the 1973-74 North Carolina State team. Tom Burleson, who stood at 7’2″, put up those averages but he was the Robin to David Thompson’s Batman role. Thompson is one of the best college basketball players of all time and helped lead the Wolfpack to a national title. Thompson averaged 26 points and a shade under eight rebounds a game, but more impressively helped defeat UCLA for the first time in the NCAA Tournament since 1965-66.
