Zags Break Their Drought, Erase Some Doubt

#2 Gonzaga Bulldogs make a statement in 87-68 win over #7 Iowa Hawkeyes

Kyle Wiltjer, once again, continued his great season, finishing with 24 points on 10-for-12 shooting, including 4-for-6 from three, and seven rebounds in the Gonzaga win.

Iowa began hitting a flurry of shots lat in the game, but the writing was on the wall long before and the Hawkeyes were unable to mount any sort of comeback. Jarrod Uthoff finished with a team-high 20 points and eight rebounds.

Gonzaga shot a blistering 61 percent for the game and had 20 assists on 32 made field goals. Domantas Sabonis contributed with 18 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Kevin Pangos had 16 points on 5-for-12 shooting and three assists.

The Bulldogs have now gotten over the hump after five straight years of falling in the Round of 32. Their last Sweet 16 appearance came in 2009 when they fell to eventual national champion North Carolina.

Iowa ends the year with a 22-12 record.
