Taj Gibson came into the season on the heels of a breakout 2013-14 campaign in which he scored 13.1 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds. And while his rebounding numbers (6.5 RPG) are on pace from last season, his scoring has dipped to 10.5 points per outing.

While Gibson hasn’t been playing with the same level of aggressiveness that enabled him to be the team’s best forth-quarter player from a year ago, the main reason why his scoring has dropped off somewhat can be attributed to being sidelined with injuries. And after sitting out for a month with a recurring left ankle injury, Gibson finally returned last week against the Raptors.

In that contest, he scored six points, connecting on both of his shot attempts in 11 minutes. And in the loss to the Pistons, Gibson scored 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field to go along with three rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

The question is can Gibson regain his form in time for the postseason? The Bulls are certainly hoping this will be the case because of his ability to play at and defend multiple positions.
