Draymond Green: 5 Reasons He Deserves A Max Contract
Intensity
Is there any question that Draymond Green is the vocal leader of this team? Steph Curry’s shot makes him the most feared Warrior, and when he pulls off one of his patented “How the hell did he do that?” plays or “No, no, no, NO — YES!” shots, he fires up the Oracle Arena crowd in a way that no one else can.
That being said, Green’s charisma, energy and in-game celebrations are simply infectious.
His blue-collar work ethic shines when he makes the more subtle, underrated moves that jumpstart a highlight-worthy play. Of course there are the three-point plays or big time threes that he knocks down to send the crowd into a frenzy, but even when he’s not doing those things he’s leading by serving.
That’s a rare thing to find in an NBA player. Green will never be the superstar in Golden State, but he fulfills his role to its utmost potential. He doesn’t back down from a challenge, no matter who he’s supposed to be guarding. He’s the kind of gritty player who could round out a new Big Three, and his intensity on and off the court (alongside Bogut) gives the Warriors some much needed attitude.
Simply put, Green gives this team the edge and toughness it needs come playoff time. I mean, would you ever see nice guys like Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson do this?
