9. Elijah Millsap – Utah Jazz/SF
Last Week: NR
Outside of fellow rookies Andrew Wiggins and Marcus Smart, Elijah Millsap might be the best defensive player on the perimeter in this rookie class. Millsap is one of the players that impacts the basketball game outside of the stat sheet and because of his play on the court the Jazz are on a three game winning streak.
What’s been more impressive is that the Jazz are playing their best stretch of basketball as they have won seven of their last nine games and Millsap’s defense is a huge part of that. This week Millsap played against the Milwaukee Bucks and finished with a good game leaving with a statline of three points, seven rebounds, one assist, and five steals.
Furthermore when Millsap played against the Denver Nuggets he had seven points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one blocked shot in a 104-82 win.
If Millsap keeps playing at a high level defensively, it’ll be difficult for head coach Quin Snyder to not insert him into the starting lineup.
Next: 8. Smart
