24. Sacramento Kings

Previous: No. 25

Record: 19-35

Last Week: 1-1

Key Acquisitions: George Karl, Head Coach; Andre Miller, PG

The Sacramento Kings acquired point guard Andre Miller from the Washington Wizards. All it cost was the underachieving Ramon Sessions.

Miller will be a valuable veteran presence, but the key acquisition for the Kings is at head coach.

George Karl comes to Sacramento as one of the winningest regular season head coaches in NBA history. He’s also lost in the first round in nine of his past 10 postseason appearances.

For the Kings, even sniffing the playoffs would be a good thing. For the front office, generating revenue would be nice, too.

Ideal timing.

If nothing else, Karl has proven time-and-time again that he can get the most out of the players he coaches. DeMarcus Cousins is an All-Star and Rudy Gay has been quietly superb, but the Kings need their role players to step up and provide supporting fire.

If nothing else, Karl gives Sacramento a legitimate chance to overachieve—no matter how the roster is constructed.
