NBA Power Rankings: Impact of the 2015 Trade Deadline
17. Detroit Pistons
Previous: No. 17
Record: 23-34
Last Week: 2-1
Key Acquisitions: Reggie Jackson, PG; Tayshaun Prince, SF
The Detroit Pistons have a physically dominant interior tandem in power forward Greg Monroe and center Andre Drummond. With Brandon Jennings suffering a season-ending injury, however, point guard play was somewhat of a concern.
Stan Van Gundy acted swiftly by dealing D.J. Augustin and acquiring Reggie Jackson.
Jackson has built up the reputation of a future star as a dynamic guard who was previously in the same situation as James Harden with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Whether or not he lives up to the hype, Detroit gambled on him doing so.
In battles with Kyrie Irving and John Wall, it’s been so far, so good for Jackson.
Detroit has gone 18-11 since opening the season at 5-23. Jackson’s arrival only offers more intrigue as Van Gundy and company pursue a postseason berth.
The Pistons’ dramatic turnaround continues.
