19. Brooklyn Nets

Previous: No. 22

Record: 23-31

Last Week: 2-0

Key Acquisitions: Thaddeus Young, F

The Brooklyn Nets made an incredible deal when they traded Kevin Garnett for Thaddeus Young. Garnett is past his prime, while Young is a productive two-way forward entering his prime.

Brooklyn’s won both of its games since Young entered the rotation.

The Nets have played relatively well with a healthy rotation, and that’s certainly understandable. Brook Lopez and Deron Williams are both productive when active, and Mason Plumlee has performed at a high and intriguing level.

The key is Young.

The Nets have made a concerted effort to improve from an athletic perspective.

By securing a interior that includes Plumlee and Young, Brooklyn has built a more viable transition defense. Lionel Hollins can now employ his system with more consistent results.

At No. 8 in the Eastern Conference, Brooklyn controls its own destiny.
