20. Boston Celtics

Previous: No. 20

Record: 21-33

Last Week: 1-2

Key Acquisitions: Jae Crowder, SF; Isaiah Thomas, PG

Since trading both Jeff Green and Rajon Rondo, the Boston Celtics have remained in the conversation for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. What’s held Boston back is its inability to consistently create offense.

Enter Isaiah Thomas.

Thomas isn’t an elite facilitator like Rondo, but he’s instant offense as a scorer and is a transition playmaker. He averaged an efficient 20.3 points per game in 2013-14 with the Sacramento Kings and should be able to replicate that number in Boston.

For those who question his role, Thomas ending up with the Celtics has been a long time coming.

Alongside Avery Bradley, Thomas should fit right in.

Unfortunately, landing Thomas coincided with Boston losing go-to scorer Jared Sullinger. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star will miss the remainder of the season due to a stress fracture in his right foot.

Nevertheless, Boston is within 2.0 games of the No. 8 seed and has a legitimate shot at making the postseason.
