7. Andrew Wiggins (Minnesota Timberwolves)
The first overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft continues to impress this season, and picked up MVP honors during the 2015 Rising Stars Challenge. Andrew Wiggins led the World team to a victory over the USA team with 22 points, four assists, and six rebounds.
Coming into the league, Wiggins had created a lot of hype and expectations. Many touted him as Maple Jordan – the next to take on the mantle from Michael Jordan, while some were quickly presenting him to be the next challenger for the title of best player in the league. He hasn’t quite lived up to the hype, but he’s showing that he can be a superstar in the league if he continues improving on his game.
Utilizing a unique blend of size, athleticism, and great defensive instincts, Wiggins is projecting to be one of the league’s complete packages on both the defensive and offensive end. With more work on his fundamentals and the way his career is panning out so far, we could be looking at the league’s next star.
