Biggest Need: Addressing Tobias Harris’ Future

The Orlando Magic have a young and promising roster, but they also have a major issue—Major Issue—to address. Tobias Harris is developing as quickly as any player in the league, and he’s set to become a restricted free agent this coming summer.

If Orlando doesn’t feel that it can re-sign Harris, it’d behoove Rob Hennigan to trade him while he can.

Harris is currently averaging 17.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.1 3-point field goals on a slash line of .465/.375/.785. Most importantly, he’s doing all of this at 22 years old.

If packaged correctly, Harris’ return could be tremendous.

The issue with dealing Harris is that Aaron Gordon hasn’t yet shown the ability to fill his shoes. Even if Gordon does pan out, Harris is a high-caliber contributor with significant room to improve.

Orlando’s decision on the Harris front will go a long way towards defining its short-term and long-term future.
