15. Phoenix Suns

Previous: No. 14

Record: 29-25

Last Week: 0-1

Biggest Need: Interior Defense

The Phoenix Suns are holding onto the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference by a very thin thread. They’re .5 games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder and 1.5 games up on the New Orleans Pelicans.

After missing the playoffs by 1.0 game in 2013-14, don’t expect the Suns to go down easy.

Phoenix has a star-studded backcourt with Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas, and an explosive wing in Gerald Green. There’s also a productive power forward in Markieff Morris, a high-caliber defender in P.J. Tucker and a budding force at center in Alex Len.

According to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, the Suns will also need to replace Dragic as soon as this coming summer.

Why not kill two birds with one stone by trading Dragic for a star-caliber big man Phoenix so clearly needs?

According to NBA.com, Phoenix ranks No. 27 in opponent field goal percentage at the rim. It’s also No. 29 in points allowed in the paint per game, per NBA.com.

If Phoenix is to make this run last, it needs to improve its defensive interior.
