2. Embarrassment of Riches

When the Phoenix Suns signed Thomas in the offseason, many thought it spelt the end for Eric Bledsoe. However, just a few days later, Bledsoe signed an extension with the team, and the Suns found themselves with a multitude of point guards on their roster.

With Bledsoe back, the Suns had to find a way to incorporate all the point guards and keep them all happy. As we’ve seen this season, Dragic hasn’t been able to make the proper adjustment, and Bledsoe has stagnated in his growth.

In terms of talent and ability, Dragic is a better basketball player than Thomas. However, in a trade sense, Dragic could be the one that brings in a better haul. Yes, Thomas is on a better deal, but Dragic is the proven NBA talent. Even if they don’t land a superstar in return, they could haul in a few draft picks and repackage them during the offseason for another star.
