Other Highlights

We already covered that last night’s game was the highest scoring All-Star Game in NBA history, but it’s also worth noting that the 48 made three-pointers absolutely obliterated last year’s record of 30…which is even more impressive when you consider the Splash Brothers went a combined 4-for-19 from downtown last night.

Harden made 7-of-12 attempts from downtown, and Kyle Korver hit the exact same mark off the bench for the East to finish with 21 points. Believe it or not, Mike Budenholzer probably should’ve left Korver — a backup All-Star reserve that many questioned when he was finally included — on the floor down the stretch when his team tried to make a late fourth quarter comeback attempt.

The NBA Twitter champion of the night, however, was undoubtedly Rudy Gobert, who tweeted this treasure during Ariana Grande’s halftime performance with Nicki Minaj. (For what it’s worth, the 21-year-old Grande killed her performance, but perhaps Gobert was on to something here.)

Tim Duncan, playing in his 15th All-Star Game, which trails only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s 18 appearances, finished with one basket. Marc Gasol and Pau Gasol became the first set of brothers in NBA history to play in the same All-Star Game, while hometown hero Carmelo Anthony was a bit of a disappointment, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-20 shooting.
