13. DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings)

After missing out on a spot in the initial roster, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made amends by selecting DeMarcus Cousins as his replacement for Kobe Bryant. A grievous mistake had finally been made right, and Cousins deserves the full recognition for what he’s accomplished this season.

He is sixth in the league in points per game, third in the league for rebounds per game, and leads all centers in scoring.

The Sacramento Kings have been struggling since Cousins missed a stint of game due to viral meningitis, but they were a competitive team before his illness. In fact, it would be accepted if it was proposed that Cousins has helped keep this team afloat, and without his production, the Kings would be in a deeper hole than the one that they are already in now.

It’s good to see a player like Cousins rewarded for his accomplishments on the court, instead of constantly being known for his immature antics in the past. Cousins is a changed man, and a first-time All-Star.
