3. Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
After making last season’s All-Star team as the commissioner’s selected replacement, Anthony Davis was voted in as a Western Conference All-Star starter this season. However, just as luck would have it, Davis will not be playing in the All-Star Game due to an injury, with Dirk Nowitzki selected as his replacement.
It is a shame that one of the league’s most impressive players this season will be missing out on the marquee event of the regular season. Davis is putting up 24.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. He has led the New Orleans Pelicans this season, and have become dark horses to make the playoffs as the eighth seed.
Let’s be honest here: the Pelicans would not be where they are this season without Davis. The third-year forward is having the season of his young fledging career, and is being touted as the next big superstar in the league. In fact, many predict that he could be the best player in the league in a few years to come. Safe to say: this won’t be his last All-Star appearance as a starter.
