NBA Player Power Rankings: Can Anyone Overthrow the Leader?
By Greg Chin
2. Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
The New Orleans Pelicans-mystery continues. On Friday night, they took down one of the Western Conference’s hottest teams in the Los Angeles Clippers. They then ended the Atlanta Hawks’ 19-game win streak, before losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.
Anthony Davis missed the game against the Clippers due to a strained groin, but he was able to log 73 minutes in the next two games. He averaged 26 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in both games, and showed that his injury was nothing more than just a scare.
The Pellies are one game behind the Phoenix Suns for the eighth seed, and will be hoping that Davis stays healthy for the rest of the season as the race for eighth looks set to go down to the wire.
