NBA Player Power Rankings: Can Anyone Overthrow the Leader?
By Greg Chin
4. Marc Gasol (Memphis Grizzlies)
The Memphis Grizzlies have won eight games in a row, and have only lost once in their last 13 games. And it’s no surprise that it’s coincided with the triumphant return to form of Marc Gasol. After a great start to the season, Gasol’s play faded towards the end of 2014, as he was dealing with some health issues.
But after his performances this week, it’s clear that Gasol is back to full health.
He showed his versatility in the three games the Grizzlies played this week. Against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he dropped 15 points and 12 rebounds to help defend the boards. On Monday, he had 15 points and eight assists in a one-point win over the Phoenix Suns, and capped it off with a 23 points scoring outburst over the Utah Jazz.
With an improved offensive arsenal, Gasol can seriously be considered as the league’s best all-round center. He can pass, rebound, score, and defend – everything you could want your big man to do.
