Offense And Attitude

Last season, Green shot 33.3 percent from downtown. This season’s 33.8 three-point percentage seems like only a marginal improvement, but Green has increased his number of attempts from 2.0 per game last season to 4.4 this year.

The fact that Green is taking so many more threes is one of many reasons that the Warriors’ offense is so tough to stop. Though he’s shooting under 34 percent from three-point territory, defenses have identified him as a three-point threat, which helps spread the defense and open up lanes for cuts and dribble penetration.

We should also note that if not for the slump he hit in December, those numbers would be higher. Green shot only 29.6 percent from deep that month, but the month before he drained nearly 36 percent of his threes. He’ll need to revert back to his November efficiency but even if he doesn’t, defenses are still going to have to guard him when he steps out to three-point territory.

It’s not just the three-point shooting, however. Green earns hustle points, he scraps for boards and when he scores on you, he’s sure to let you know about it. The Dubs need a guy with confidence and attitude like that, and it’s no surprise Golden State is a stellar 17-1 at home with a guy like Green who can fire up Oracle Arena in an instant.
