2. Julius Erving on Michael Cooper

Paying homage to the old school, Dr. J, a.k.a Julius Erving’s, rock the cradle dunk on Los Angeles Lakers forward Michael Cooper was sick. Even by today’s standards this would be a SportsCenter top-10 highlight.

Known as “Dr. J’s Rock the Baby” dunk, what separates this dunk is it was pre-meditated. Today’s dunks happen much faster. One player doesn’t rotate, and another gets posterized. Erving had time to think of what he’d do and rocking the ball was similar to loading a pistol that’s ready to fire. Erving would pull the trigger and serve the best dunk in an NBA game ever.

Much respect to the fan at the eight-second mark who is the originator of the ugly Christmas sweater trend.
