The fantasy basketball world tonight gives a tribute to Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mo Williams:

That video is just plain stupid. Those last two threes Williams hit are beyond the level of absurd. He finished with 52 points on 19-of-33 shooting, with six threes, 8-for-9 from the free throw line, seven assists, four rebounds and only three turnovers in 44 minutes.

Mo is 32 years old. According to basketball-reference.com he’s one of 15 to break the 50-point mark 32 or older between 1963-64 to the present. The other players on the list are Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, Rick Barry, John Havlicek, Andre Miller, Bernard King, Ray Allen, Allen Iverson, Alex English, Sam Jones, Larry Bird, Moses Malone and Clifford Robinson.

Here’s what his shot chart looked like:

Only two of his makes were at the rim and maybe a third in the paint. Everything else was jumpers. Williams made 10-of-20 contested shots and 9-of-13 uncontested.

Some of the numbers from the NBA.com box score are wild. Williams had 122 touches, the next highest on the team was Thaddeus Young with 76. For context, Michael Carter-Williams averages the highest amount of touches per game this season with 103.9

I really hope you had him in your lineup if he was on your team. If you didn’t, well, I’m really sorry cause that sucks.

Other fantasy notes from Tuesday night’s action:

  • Hawks Go Full Spurs: The Hawks infrastructure has been built around pieces from San Antonio’s organization with head coach Mike Budenholzer and general manager Danny Ferry. You see traits of the Spurs in the way they play and now they’re sitting players too. Jeff Teague, Paul Milsap and DeMarre Carroll were all given last night off versus the lowly 76ers. I get it and I fully approve of the decision, but BOOOOOOO! BOOOOOOOOOOOOO! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Career night for Markieff MorrisIf it wasn’t for Mo Williams, the Suns’ Markieff Morris would have been the start of the night. Morris dropped a career-high 35 points on 15-of-21 shooting with seven rebounds. On the opposing team …
  • No Love: For the second time this Kevin Love sat the entire fourth quarter in a tight game during the Cavaliers loss to the Suns. He missed 8-of-11 shots and scored nine points with nine rebounds in 27 minutes. Nope, that’s not going to get the job done. Love’s fantasy value is hurt by his putrid defense because it can cost him minutes at times. Little bit of more attention to detail from Love on that end is really needed and in a roundabout way it dings his overall numbers.
  • Warriors Depth Hurts Speights:  Long live the Marreese Speights fantasy basketball relevance era. I hope we meet again in the future. With Andrew Bogut and David Lee back in the rotation there’s no way around Speights takes a dip. He’s potentially someone to release depending how the next few games go.
