Pro: Bench Needs Help

The Clippers’ biggest problem is their frontcourt, especially when it comes to depth. Los Angeles is not a good rebounding team and they’ve been abused by the more talented frontcourts of the Western Conference. But the bench has also been a problem outside of Jamal Crawford.

As we’ve already touched on, Farmar has been a major step down from Darren Collison last season. If Doc is able to get some solid play out of his son, Rivers could actually wind up being a helpful addition to a team that needs more out of its reserves.

Collison was a huge boost off the bench for Los Angeles last year, and the Clippers need someone who can help Crawford off the bench. Turning to Rivers to help solve that problem shows how desperate/misguided this team is, but who knows? Even if he’s a tiny step up from Farmar, that’s an improvement.
