It didn’t take long for the Austin Rivers trade rumors to start up. Just hours after being included in a three-team trade between the Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans, Rivers became the subject of trade rumors involving the Los Angeles Clippers.

By shipping Rivers to the Celtics, the Pellies essentially gave up on a 22-year-old lottery selection who hasn’t resembled anything close to an NBA player in his first three years in the league. But even Boston — a team dead-set on acquiring draft picks and young talent — has no interest in keeping Rivers around.

Enter the Clippers, who are coached and managed by Austin’s father, Doc Rivers. According to ESPN’s Arash Markazi, there’s a definite possibility Los Angeles will be trading for Rivers to unite father and son on the NBA stage.

Before we jump to conclusions and overreact (probably too late, but still), let’s take a look at what a potential Austin Rivers trade would actually look like and how it would impact Lob City with some pros and cons.
