Confidence

Justin Holiday isn’t much to look at. He’s lengthy sure, but he’s so skinny he looks like if South Park‘s Starvin’ Marvin grew up and became an NBA player. But that just makes his success that much more intriguing.

The key to any type of underdog story like this is confidence. For anyone who missed Holiday knocking down go-ahead shots and clutch game-winners to cap off monster performances in the NBA Summer League, I’ll fill you in: this guy is certainly not lacking in the confidence department.

Despite being little more than a role player off the bench, Holiday certainly hasn’t been shy about shooting the ball. Per 36 minutes, he’s taking 12.9 field goal attempts, which is more than Draymond Green, Shaun Livingston, Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut and Andre Iguodala ALL attempt per 36 minutes.

More from Hoops Habit

Averaging 9.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game over his last nine contests, Holiday has virtually come out of nowhere to give the Warriors much-appreciated production off the bench. Between Marreese Speights, David Lee, Livingston, Iguodala and now Holiday, Golden State could have quite a fearsome second unit when completely healthy.

If you didn’t know who Justin Holiday was, you probably learned when you noticed this no-name substitute not being afraid to take pull-up threes in transition…and make them. Speaking of which, it’s high time we covered the greatest asset Holiday brings to the table.
