New Year’s Resolution: Make Jump Shots

After a brief period of success, the Philadelphia 76ers returned to their losing ways. Philly fell 114-93 at the Portland Trail Blazers and was demolished 88-71 by the Utah Jazz.

In both of those games, as well as most of the other losses, Philadelphia’s list of shortcomings were too lengthy to list. If there’s one area to focus on above all else, it’s shooting.

Philadelphia ranks dead last in scoring offense, field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage.

The Sixers are scoring just 90.8 points on a slash line of .412/.296/.677. They’re the only team in the league to shoot below 30.0 percent from beyond the arc, as well as being one of just two squads below 70.0 percent shooting at the charity stripe.

The Detroit Pistons are the only other team to do it.

Philadelphia must cut down on its league-worst mark in turnovers, but making shots is the name of the game. Defense wins games, but not when a team is at the bottom of the league in scoring, field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage.

Philadelphia is dreadful.
