Finals rematches are often a staple of Christmas Day in the NBA. This time around it shall not occur, of course, since the Heat are set to play Cleveland rather than the San Antonio Spurs. But that’s what happens when the best player in the world switches teams.
Besides, we’ll still get to see the Spurs play their Western Conference Finals foe, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in what is sure to be a riveting matchup.
Speaking of the Thunder, that’s exactly who LeBron and his Heat at the time matched up with the Christmas after defeating Kevin Durant and his squad in The Finals 4-1. As this was James’ first title, this game seemed to mean a little bit more.
Little did any of us know at the time that this season was also to result in a second title for Miami. This Heat team was one of the best teams ever, later going on a 27-game win streak that is now the second longest in league history.
So when you factor all of that in, plus the fact that James was hotter than Selena Gomez at a jalapeños convention, can you really blame OKC for losing this one?
